I'm Kris Cartmell — a full-stack web developer and certified crane school instructor. My career spans two very different industries, but they share a common thread: precision, safety, and a commitment to doing things right the first time.
With over 20 years in web development, I specialise in building clean, maintainable applications using modern PHP and the Laravel ecosystem. I care deeply about code quality, user experience, and shipping solutions that actually solve real problems.
As a Red Seal journeyman mobile crane and hoist operator out of Alberta, Canada, I bring real field experience to the classroom at IUOE Local 955. From Mammoet's heavy lift projects to supervising crews at Sterling Crane — I've operated it, supervised it, and now I teach it.

Experience
Web Development
Built a richly gamified family life management SaaS with Laravel and Livewire — featuring RPG mechanics, household tools, clan systems, raids, crafting, and a full REST API.
Launched the central command node for the Sindre System — a secure SaaS orchestration platform for tenant management, license deployment, and system health monitoring.
Adopted Laravel as my primary framework and never looked back. A decade of building modern SaaS platforms, client applications, and bespoke web tools.
Designed and built the Alberta Crane Service web platform 13 years ago. That foundation steadily evolved into Sindre OS — a full business operating system covering CRM, finance, marketing, and inventory.
Spent the first decade learning the web from the ground up — raw PHP, MySQL, and whatever it took to ship. Built custom applications across a wide range of industries.
Crane Operations
Instructing apprentice and journeyman crane operators through the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 955 training program.
Mobile crane operations and crew supervision on large-scale industrial and commercial projects across Alberta.
Heavy lift and transport operations with one of the world's leading heavy lifting companies, working on major industrial projects.
Completed crane operator apprenticeship, achieving Journeyman certification with Red Seal endorsement in 2015.
